24 Mar 2016
Researchers from Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, HKU have recently discovered novel mechanisms by which avian influenza H5N1 virus causes acute lung injury and leads to severe pneumonia in humans through the impairment of sodium and chloride transporter molecules in the human lung epithelium. The research team further discovers novel therapeutic strategies for treating human H5N1 disease.
